Journals, articles and databases
Journals
Our journal collection consists of electronic and printed journals acquired by the library or received as legal deposit copies. You can find all the journals in JYKDOK. Information seeking to the academic journals and peer-reviewed articles is usually done in the discipline specific databases.
E-journals acquired by the library are available from workstations on the university’s network or remotely with your JYU username and password.
See more information on our e-book and other e-resources guide (please look especially at the section 'Instructions for e-journals'). If you want to share a link to an e-journal or article, remember to take into account the requirements of remote access.
The National Library has digitized Finnish journals (as part of Digi: Digitized materials of the National Library online 1771–1929) and in addition some of the library’s journal collections have been stored on microfilm. Microfilm in the Collection Centre can be ordered for use at Lähde.
Articles
Search for international articles with discipline specific databases or if you don't have JYUs credentials with JYKDOK’s International e-materials search.
You can search for articles published in Finnish journals and compilations via JYKDOK’s Finnish articles tab. Only some of the articles are available in full text.
You can find information about the topic search from the Library Start-up (choose "Log in as a quest" option to enter without JYU credentials).
Databases
Article and reference databases
Most of the databases acquired by the library are article databases. They contain the full-text content of the journals the library subscribes to and, increasingly, e-books. There are also open materials, such as publication archives of other universities, library catalogues and so on.
You can find databases in JYKDOK using the basic search or by using the search function “Browse for databases”.
JYX
JYX is the University of Jyväskylä’s electronic publication archive. It offers you electronic theses, dissertations, parallel publishing of research articles, as well as digitized maps and journals and other e-material published by the University of Jyväskylä.
JYX materials are available through JYKDOK.
Electronic legal deposit copies
Electronic legal deposit copies are Finnish e-materials, which you can view on the workstations of the library’s Digi archive.
If you are a student or staff member of the University of Jyväskylä, you have access to all the digital journals digitized by the National library, without restriction, using your JYU username and password.
