Alli Oksanen (1893-1984) was a long-time home economics teacher at the Jyväskylä Seminary and the Jyväskylä College of Education. She published several household textbooks and cookbooks.

Her first booklet Oksanen published in Jyväskylä as a self-published 1929, Lyhyt säilöönpano-opas (A Short Conservation Guide). It was followed in1938 by Lyhyt kodinhoidon opas kansakouluja varten (A Short Home Care Guide for Primary Schools).

The best known of Oksanen's books is the cookbook with Liisi Harmio: Maija keittää (Maija is cooking). The first edition of this book was published in 1949.

The history of the Jyväskylä Seminar and Jyväskylä University goes into our daily lives like this:

  • The cozy Maija restaurant in the Mattilanniemi MaA building was renamed  as Maija according to Oksanen's book.
  • The main office of the University Library is now situated in this same building because of the renovation project.
  • The library's copyright collection contains all Oksanen's books and archived copies can be ordered for reading room use from the archive collection.
