Teaching and Learning Spaces at the Main Library

The teaching and learning spaces in the Main Library are meant primarily for the Library’s own use. Others can reserve the rooms, if their use is related to the activities within the University.

Users outside the university are asked to contact Maritta Heittola at the University Facilities.

Wireless network and user account of JYU network

Power sockets for downloading laptops, for example, can be found on the floor on each floor.

Group Work Area (B 335, 3rd floor)

  • for temporary group work
  • no reservations

Group Work Room and AV-room 1 (B 336, 3rd floor)

  • for use of AV-items of the depository collection and for temporary group work
  • 5 - 10 persons, only within the University
  • reservation list at the room's door, maximum 20 hours/week/person or group, no permanent reservations
  • TV, DIA projector, portable stereo radio recorder (cassette and CD player), radio, vinyl record and CD player (on a stereo surface), overhead projector, typewriter
  • ask for the TV remote and headphones at the service desk, 1st floor

Group Work Room 2 (B 337, 3rd floor)

  • for temporary group work
  • 5 - 10 persons, only within the University
  • reservation list at the room's door, maximum 20 hours/week/person or group, no permanent reservations

  • for temporary group work
  • 5 - 7 persons, only within the University

Microfilm Reading Room (3rd floor)

  • 2 microfilm scanners and 1 microfilm reader
  • collection of microfilmed newspapers
  • calendar for reserving a reader in advance
  • Ask Interlibrary Loan service (B 124, 1st floor) to help you in using the readers

Meeting Room (B 338, 3rd floor)

  • primarily for Library’s own meetings
  • not for teaching
  • 20 persons
  • reservations in Korppi
  • video projector, flap boards, overhead projector, workstation

Small Meeting Room (B 339, 3rd floor)

  • for Library’s own use only
  • about 8 - 10 persons
  • reservations in Korppi
  • 3 workstations, smart board, equipment for video conferences

Digital Archive (B 228, 2nd floor)

  • meant for browsing and printing of materials in Finnish Electronic Copyright Collection for one’s own use only
  • two workstation with limited use: you can read, view, listen and print the sites, but not save files. There are no Office-programs or internet browsing in the workstations, but you can print the sites with the auxiliary printer on the left.
  • Outside the room there are two workstations with access to the materials with limited use in JYX Digital Archive. Printing: \\jy-print\Kioskitulostus printig queue with your JYU network username. If you don't have a username, please contact the Service desk, 1st floor.
