Jyväskylä University Library - at the Heart of Campus

Library Etiquette

The Open Science Centre Library of the University of Jyväskylä is a public library and open to all. It provides services and facilities primarily for university staff and students. A person using the services is obliged to follow library rules and other instructions.

The Library is a lively and active learning environment, a meeting place, and a common living room, but also a quiet place to work.

Please respect the needs of other users as well as staff when meeting your friends, talking to them or otherwise spending time at the library. Talking or group work is allowed only in the Main Library’s open halls and in Café Libri. The reading rooms at the far end of the building are reserved for quiet work. The campus libraries also offer a peaceful study environment.

Please use your mobile phone only in the Main Library’s staircases and open hallways. It is recommended that mobile phones are not used at all at the campus libraries.

Please eat your own sandwiches and other food only in the Main Library’s café. It is forbidden to eat or drink elsewhere in the library.
