Client Workstations

The Main Library offers over one hundred PCs for client use. Workstations are primarily for Jyväskylä University personnel and students. Workstations connected to the university network can only be accessed with a personal ID.

The workstations are located in:

    • 1st floor: the computer class B 126A
    • 2nd floor: the reading rooms and the lecture room B 232
    • 3rd floor: the reading rooms

There are also client workstations and terminals at the campus libraries.

Software on client workstations includes word processing, spread sheet, and graphics programs as well as Internet browsers.

Workstations for Printing

There are four workstations reserved only for printing in the Main Library's stair hall on the 2nd and 3rd floor. Log in to your account using your personal username and password.

Workstations on the 1st floor

There are six workstations near the Info Desk on the 1st floor that do not require a personal ID.

Two of the workstations are intended for information searches and studying. Almost all of the electronic material acquired to the Jyväskylä University Library is available on these stations. One of the stations has a word processor and a scanner. An accessible workstation for persons with disabilities is located on the 3rd floor.

Online gaming and watching adult entertainment is forbidden on Library computers.

JYKDOK- and LINNEA-workstations

Workstations for the use of the JYKDOK catalogue and national Linnea databases can be found on all floors at the Main Library and at the Campus Libraries.

Cyrillic (Russian) Keyboards

Russian keyboards can be borrowed for library use at the Main Library's service desk,1st (ground) floor. There is also one Russian keyboard at the Lecture Room 232 on the 2nd floor. The workstation (B232-J) is marked "Русская клавиатура" and is on the opposite wall to the entrance, second row from the teacher's workstation.

Workstations with Limited Use

Workstations with limited use are situated in the eExam Room (3rd floor) and Digital Archives Room (B 228) at the Main Library.
