The Estonica Collection

The Estonica Collection consists of Estonian books and journals obtained as donations.

The collection originates from the Finnish Literature Society’s Jyväskylä Unit, which was active during the second half of the 19th century and whose eager member was one W. S. Schildt. Later the collection was augmented by teachers of the Jyväskylä Teacher Training College. Nowadays the augmentation of the collection is slow.

The oldest part of the collection is housed in closed stacks, from where it may be requested. The most recent literature is located on open shelves in a 3rd floor group work room (B 336). The items are arranged according to subject.

All items in the collection are listed in the JYKDOK catalogue.
