Missale Aboense

Missale Aboense is a missal which contains the texts and prayers of the mass. The Abo missal was printed both in parchment and paper. Printing colours are red and black. Some of the big initials and illustrations are hand painted. Colours and  were used in parchment copies.

Of the four preserved missals printed on parchment, the missal of the church of Halikko, the only copy which is almost complete and in the original binding, is in the Royal Library of Copenhagen. One of the copies, pieced together from the cover fillings of bailiff's ledgers, is kept in the Royal Library of Stockholm. Two parchment copies exist in Finland, one in Helsinki University Library and the other in Jyväskylä University Library.

There are two facsimile editions of Missale Aboense, one from 1971 and the other from 1988.

Pictorial in the Libraria-collection of the Missale Aboense.
